Prof. Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiyya)

A great Hindu leader and organizer Honorable Sri Rajju Bhaiyya (Prof. Rajender Singh) passed away on 14 July, 2003 at 12 noon (IST) in Pune, India. Sri Rajju Bhaiyya was 81. He was not keeping well for last few months and taking complete rest at an Ashram in Pune.

Sri Rajju Bhaiyya participated in Quit India movement and the same year came in contact with the Rashtriya Swayemsewak Sangh (RSS), a largest voluntary social service organization of present time. He was a Professor of Physics in Allahabad University before becoming a full time Pracharak (non paid volunteer with missionary zeal) of RSS in early sixties. He was considered one of the leading scholars of Nuclear Physics, a rarity in those days. The Nobel Prize winner scientist Mr. C. Raman and Dr. Homi Bhabha had recognized his great talent in Nuclear Physics.  India’s ex-Prime Minister V. P. Singh and current Human Resource Minister Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi were among his students.

Sri Rajju Bhaiyya left his brilliant academic career and devoted his whole life for uniting Hindus and social service. He inspired thousands of people all over the globe to become sevavrati (missionary) for Hindu renaissance. In 1994 Sri Rajju Bhaiyya rose to become the fourth Sarsanghachalak (Chief, Guide and Philosopher), which he remained till 2000. He visited many countries to inspire the Hindus and to spread great values of Universal Dharma. In 1982 he visited United States of America to provide guidance to Hindu organizations including Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America, Hindu Swayemsevak Sangh, and others.

Soft-spoken and affable, Sri Rajju Bhaiyya had been a friend, guide and philosopher to many in Parivar (a family of Hindu organizations). He led Hindu movement in the challenging times, during 80s when the Ram Janm Bhumi movement was at its zenith and again in mid-nineties when graph of the Hindutwa ideology in the political arena was rising steadily and significantly. Many senior functionaries of the Parivaar organizations had close rapport with Sri Rajju Bhaiyya. He had close relations with many outside the Parivaar also, including eminent politicians, academicians, social leaders and intellectuals.

Hindu Swayemsevak Sangh (HSS) of North America expresses condolences on the sad demise of great visionary and organizer of worldwide Hindus, Mananiya Rajju Bhaiyya.
